modesa is still in the early stages of being populated with content and should be considered a landscape that is changing. Many of the links will lead to Oberkon (It’s a Small Town) and not to where you may expect. Apologies issued in advance.

Hi there. Welcome to my Depeche Mode world. Step right through the door. Leave your tranquilizers at home. You don’t need them anymore.

modesa is a fansite about Depeche Mode. Depeche Mode are a band. A band with over 30 years of music that masses of people across the planet know, admire and enjoy.

Among those masses of people are people like Greg. People who take their admiration and appreciation for Depeche Mode perhaps a little more seriously than others. The sort of people who put the ‘fan’ into ‘fanatic’, if you will. Greg is a little like that. I am Greg.

I’m not stalker obsessive to the level that members of the band need to have restraining orders issued against me, you understand. Just really, really passionate about Depeche Mode and their music.

Passionate enough to eventually get around to doing something that I have wanted to do for many years: set up a Depeche Mode Fan website to document and catalogue the work of my favourite band. Yes, I know there are many, lots, plenty of other such fansites all over the interwebs. Yes, I know a number of them have been around for many a long year.

“Why bother?”, I sense you wondering. Well, mostly because I want to. I want to have the pleasure of looking back at this site in years to come and realise that I have (in a small way) contributed to spreading the Mode news around the world.

Importantly, I also want to use this site to connect with fellow Devotees. And not just those close to home here in Joburg, South Africa. No. The Black Swarm has members spread all over this fair planet, and they are all welcome to share their devotion here.

If you want somewhere to share your Depeche Mode story, here is the house where it all can happen. Take a look around. I know it’s a little empty at the moment, but things will get better gradually. It’s just a question of time.

Feel free to drop a note to me via the Contact modesa form, touch face with me via Facebook or even on Twitter if you have any suggestions or comments about the site, if you want to share your Mode story, or even if you just want to say “Tora, Tora, Tora”. There’s a bunch of social media icons up the top of the screen – use those to connect to modesa too.

I’d be excited to hear from you, and I’d feel violated if I don’t.

Peace.
